Real-wood look, Colorado-tough performance. Moisture-resistant slats that hold up through every Colorado season.
The Practical Choice for Colorado Homes
Horizontals give you the warm, layered look of wood slats without wood's moisture sensitivity - a perfect match for Colorado's wide humidity swings between summer monsoons and dry winter air. The slats are PVC composite: durable, easy to wipe clean, and available in dozens of finishes from bright white to deep espresso.
We carry 2" and 2½" slat widths, all available with cordless lift, top-down/bottom-up operation, and motorized systems. Peter or Bri will visit your home and walk you through which slat width and finish works best in your space.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between Horizontals and real wood blinds?
Horizontals use PVC composite slats that look similar to wood from the face but resist moisture and UV far better. Real wood has authentic grain depth and warmth but can warp in kitchens, bathrooms, or humid conditions. For most Colorado rooms, Horizontals are the practical choice - for formal rooms away from moisture where aesthetics take priority, real wood is worth considering.
Are Horizontals the same as faux wood blinds?
Yes - 'Horizontals' is what we call this product category. The slats are PVC composite (faux wood construction) that delivers the look of wood with better moisture resistance. The name 'Horizontals' simply describes what you see: horizontal slats.
What slat width should I choose?
For most windows, 2" slats are the right choice - clean, proportional, and versatile. On wider windows (typically 36" or more), 2½" slats can look better proportioned. We bring samples of both to your in-home estimate so you can compare against your actual windows and décor before deciding.
Can I get Horizontals with a cordless lift?
Yes - cordless lift is our default recommendation and is available on all slat widths and finishes. Cordless is cleaner, safer for children and pets, and just easier to operate day to day. Top-down/bottom-up lift is also available if you want the flexibility to lower from the top and raise from the bottom independently.
Do Horizontals come with a warranty?
We carry Graber® and Norman® USA Horizontals. Warranty coverage depends on the exact blind and current manufacturer terms; ask us for the written warranty for your selection, including exclusions and component coverage.
How do I clean Horizontals?
Wipe with a damp cloth or mild soap solution. PVC composite handles moisture well - you can spot-clean without worrying about warping or finish damage. Avoid abrasive pads that can scratch the finish. For regular maintenance, a feather duster with the slats closed (then open) catches dust on both surfaces.
Can Horizontals be motorized?
Yes - motorized lift is available on select configurations. A motor handles both slat tilt (the light and privacy angle) and full raise/lower. Compatible with Alexa, Google Home, and Apple HomeKit. Ask us about motorized options during your estimate.
